Why the Size of Your Waist Can Save Your Life
Waist measurement ,the amount of fat around your belly,is a quick and simple way to estimate the risk that abdominal fat poses to your health. Waist measurement should be made correctly. Waist measurement should be made1 cm below the belly button after having breathed out. No holding your belly in!
WAIST MEASUREMENT
For Men, a waist measurement exceeding 37 inches is associated with potential diseases.and a waist measurement exceeding 40 inches is associated with substantial health risk. For Women, a waist measurement exceeding 32 inches is associated with potential diseases and a waist measurement exceeding 35 inches is associated with substantial health risk. Waist measurement is now believed to be a much more accurate measure of future health risk than BMI alone. Where you carry your weight is even more important than how much weight you carry. You are at risk for overweight related diseases like high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Instead of being distributed evenly around the hips, arms and legs, the overweight stocked as fatty acids is piled up in the stomach muscles and in vital organs.
This ectopic accumulation of fat tissues is a good sign that the fat cells are unable to proliferate fast enough in order to stock the fatty acids in surplus. Those will instead continue to circulate in the blood stream. Eventually, they will be deposited in the inner surface of the arteries .They will then oxidize, causing arteriosclerosis.
SYMPTOMS OF ABDOMINAL OBESITY
Those free fatty acids can also get in the liver, heart, kidneys and in the pancreas, and they will affect their operation. This explain the increase of hepatic enzymes level in the blood, the myocardium hypertrophy (the main heart muscle), high blood pressure and resistance to insulin. Those symptoms have been identified in those suffering from abdominal obesity.
This imbalance called metabolic syndrome can also, on the long run, increase the unusual concentration of vaso constriction factors, coagulation and uric acid in the blood.This situation is well designed for high blood pressure, thrombosis, gall-bladder stones and gout.
EXERCISE AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
It is well advised to remain active even if you don’t have to loose weight. Exercise can only be beneficial because of its impact on the body mass as well as on the muscular mass. The size of muscular mass can increase the energetics linked to the functioning of our metabolism ( energy needed for breathing, digesting, etc.) and promote the usage of fat reserves.
It is the reason why it is well advised to be active for 30 to 40 minutes a day. This time length can be shortened in smaller periods of 10 to 15 minutes in different fashions in all kind of physical activities. Finally, it is also well advised to reduce alcohol intake , fatty food and high level of carbs food like chips, french fries, cakes etc. Your belly can only get slimmer and you will enjoy a better health.
