Hawaii questions! Maui, Big Island, Kaui, and Oahu?
OK, here we go…
1. Best beaches on Kauai, Maui, and Big Island? I’m looking for beautiful, paradise-esque beaches where I can go in the water with no worries.
2. Kauai- see the Napoli coast by helicopter or during a sunset cruise? Can anybody recommend some good companies?
3. Waikiki Beach in Oahu- I want to take a surfing lesson, and I have absolutely no prior experience. What are some good companies to contact/good ways to go about planning this? How much time should I allow for it?
3. On Kaui- Poipu Beach or Polihale State Park? Why?

Hi – The best advice I can give is to get the “Revealed” books written by Andrew Doughty, they are excellent and spot on.
Of course, everything is debateable. Best beaches? Big Island – 69 beach (b/c that is the mile marker) on the Kona side, outstanding! Just about every beach/every island – go in the morning (like 0900). Morning is least wind, most sun, and best parking.
Na Pali Coast – recommend snorkel cruise through Holo Holo Charters (sunset cruise is too dark, helicoptors are too dangerous).
Surfing lesson on Oahu that is NOT in Waikiki is a good call (just start googling), Waikiki gets pretty crowded. Last time I surfed, I hit some poor tourist in the back of the head with my board.
