Have you heard of The Sea of Galilea in Israel?

Knowing the history of Israel and accepting the fact that a generation ago there was no Israel there (the land being previously known as palestine [I think named that by the ottomans]; is the name of the lake or not. I saw maps of israel that say “Lake Tiberius.” I’ve saw others that said “Sea of Galilea.” which one is ORIGINALLY?

It’s hard to say…Galilee is the region, Tiberias a town in the region of Galilee. The region name is older, so that might be the original name. But it was probably called something before that…

Also, “Palestine” was not named by the Ottomans; the name goes back to pre-Roman times when some people in the area were known as Philistines. The Romans also referred to this area as Syria Palaestina.

Plus, Israel’s been around for 59 years. That’s two generations, unless you’re taking fertility drugs.
