Atlas Maps Driving Directions

atlas maps driving directions
For parents only: I’m driving in 2 weeks, and I don’t know…?

my streets very well–so, I was thinking that the best way would be for me to uses memory techniques to memorize directions to places and visulaize myself driving there in my head. Of course I would also use a map (on web o atlas whichever would be better) to help me. I’m a really quick study, and find the rate of absorbancy higher when things are written on paper. I’ve tried to pay attention to roads and stuff, but always got side-tracked in the car. So…what do you think? I trust your advice.

I am terrible with maps and directions. I find that the only way I will remember how to get to a location would be to drive there myself. You’ll find that it’s alot easier to remember where something is if you drove it yourself, as opposed to sitting in the passenger side and trying to remember where you went.
As you drive, you inadvertently take mental pictures of buildings, street names and signs that you’ll remember the next time you do it. If you’re not driving, you don’t tend to notice things in as much detail and therefore are less likely to remember it later.
Maps, to me are useless. I need written directions with landmarks. Study the directions beforehand and memorize things like how many rights you’ll take before your first left, etc… and then take a test drive when you have plenty of time to get lost (bring a friend). And don’t worry if you get lost the first time because you are more likely to remember where you’re going the next time. Hope that helps!
