Aqua Earbands Swim
Aqua earbands and ear plugs?
Do the swimming earbands provide adequate protection for your ears when swimming or are you supposed to wear ear plugs as well?
My daughter suffers with a lot of ear infections after swimming.
It does depend a bit on what type of swimming you are doing (laps, or just splashing around), but for most purposes earbands are not enough.
I’m a bit obsessive about this, I got continual infections in both ears and as a result had to have operations on them to restore my hearing. Now I am under strict instructions not to get any water in my ears so I use the putty style earplugs with a swimming cap over the top.
Earplugs with an earband is nearly as effective.
Earplugs on their own isn’t good enough for me.
One thing I have learned, if you are getting a lot of ear infections get it sorted out before it becomes a bigger problem. My GP just wasn’t up to it. I was practically deaf before he sent me to a specialist.
